Medical care is provided through Sri Sathya Sai Sarla Memorial Hospital, Divine Mother and Child Health Program and SAI WHEELS.

 


 

 

Sri Sathya Sai Sarla Memorial Hospital:


 

With a vision to provide free quality healthcare at all times, the Prashanthi Balamandira Trust embarked on the construction of Sri Sathya Sai Sarla Memorial Hospital, a 63,000 sq ft, swastika-shaped eight-wing facility at Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli in the Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka in January 2018. It has been dedicated to the service of society in the loving memory of Late Mrs Sarla Indulal Shah, an ardent devotee of Baba and a woman who contributed immensely for the upliftment of rural India, particularly women and children. The 300 bedded hospital is being built in two phases.

 

As part of the first phase, the hospital is currently a 150 bedded facility running the in-house/out-patient departments of General Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, ENT, Dentistry, Pathology and Physiotherapy, consisting of a 150 bed facility. The hospital also has visiting Endocrinology, Plastic Surgery, Neurology, Cardiology, Community Medicine, Foetal Medicine, Radiology, Dermatology, and Orthopaedics services. There is also a Diabetic and Chronic Diseases Outpatient Department that attends to about 1,800 patients per month. With the strength of about 25 caregivers, consisting of doctors and paramedical staff, the centre treats patients completely free of cost for all ailments which comprises of diagnosis, treatment and medicines. On an average, the able team of doctors see about 4,000 walk-ins each month, inclusive of all general and specialty medical services.

To reach out to a wider patient base, the Centre also conducts monthly medical camps, and takes healthcare to the villagers’ doorsteps and pays periodic visits to government schools in the vicinity. Expanding its horizons to serve more patients, the Sri Sathya Sai Sarla Memorial Hospital in conjunction with the Indian Medical Association, Chikkaballapur branch commenced the Diabetic Retinopathy treatment. This clinic was established on October 24, 2019 to provide free ophthalmology services for all. Ophthalmologists from Chikkaballapur conduct regular screening of patients who visit the Sarla Memorial Hospital for Diabetic Retinopathy and recommend treatment as per the need. The government bus with laser machine visits the hospital once a month to treat patients who need retinal correction with laser treatment. Those who require cataract surgery are referred to the district hospital at Chikkaballapur for surgery.

The Centre also works collaboratively with some of the reputed medical colleges and hospitals at Bengaluru, Karnataka such as M S Ramaiah Medical College, M S Ramaiah Dental College, R V Dental College, Dhristi Ophthalmic Unit and Sri Krishnadevaraya College of Dental Sciences.  

 

   

 

The hospital is soon to become an absolutely free of cost COVID Care facility that will equip the 150 bedded facility with 125 HDU oxygenated beds and 25 ICU beds with medical gas piping as per HTM standards. This facility will also include four operation theatres.​

 


 

Sai Arogya:

Sai Arogya is a scheme that takes care of the health of the students studying at Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Gurukulam. Dental, Ophthalmology, Paediatics and General Medicine are some of the segments under this scheme. Students who need prescription spectacles are given spectacles free of charge.

 

Divine Mother and Child Health Program:

Divine Mother and Child Health Program was launched in September 2017. This program caters to monthly antenatal services for pregnant mothers and comprehensive health screening for Government School children. Health and Hygiene awareness workshops are also conducted for mothers and children. Since September 2017, 12500+ rural pregnant women have been cared for, 38000+ children from Government schools have been comprehensively screened with the support of 50+ volunteering Doctors and 100+ volunteers.
